Working with us
How do I know which service line I need?
Start with the broadest fit (bespoke upholstery for a sofa rebuild, antique restoration for a period piece, soft goods for window treatments) and we will refine on the consultation. Often a project crosses lines — a Federal-period side chair might need both antique restoration (frame, finish) and bespoke upholstery (new horsehair stuffing, hand-stitched edges, fabric). Pricing is unified across lines.
Do I have to come to the workshop?
No. Free in-home consultations across NoVA, DC, and Maryland. Walk-ins are welcome at the workshop on Colvin Street if you prefer — Mon–Fri 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sat 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Designers and trade clients usually visit the workshop fabric library by appointment.
Who are the principals?
Jose Rugerio is the registered owner of Bergerie Upholstery and is the principal contact for designer-trade and commercial inquiries — jarugerio@bergerieupholstery.com. Antonio is the master upholsterer at the bench. The shop number, (202) 337-8727, reaches both.
Do you serve clients outside Northern Virginia?
Yes. The standard service area is Northern Virginia, DC, and Maryland — pickup, delivery, and in-home consultation are all included free for residential clients in that area. Travel beyond is by arrangement; we have served clients in Loudoun horse country, the Eastern Shore, and select Mid-Atlantic destinations.
